The Speinshart Scientific Center for AI and SuperTech will host the inaugural retreat for the new AI Digitalisation Colleges, a flagship funding initiative of the Bavarian Research Institute for Digital Transformation (bidt), supported by the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts.
Beginning in 2027, the AI Digitalisation Colleges will bring together interdisciplinary teams of students from universities across Bavaria to address key questions surrounding artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and their impact on society. Over a four-year funding period, participating colleges will develop innovative research and teaching projects that combine technical expertise with perspectives from the humanities, social sciences, and other disciplines.
The retreat in Speinshart will mark the official start of this new programme. Representatives from the newly established AI Digitalisation Colleges—including project leaders and academic coaches from universities throughout Bavaria—will come together to build a strong collaborative network from the outset.
During the two-and-a-half-day event, participants will identify thematic synergies, exchange ideas on teaching concepts and interdisciplinary working methods, coordinate future activities, and develop joint event formats. The programme will also facilitate networking with the existing Digitalisation Colleges, creating continuity between the current and the next generation of the initiative.
By providing an inspiring environment for dialogue and collaboration, the Speinshart Scientific Center supports the development of a vibrant statewide community dedicated to responsible AI research, innovative education, and interdisciplinary cooperation. The retreat will lay the foundation for lasting partnerships that will shape Bavaria’s AI landscape for years to come.
