EVIDENZ Workshop: Bringing AI-Driven Experimentation into Industrial Practice

How can artificial intelligence accelerate product development while reducing costs, material consumption, and experimental effort? These questions will be at the centre of the EVIDENZ Workshop, hosted at the Speinshart Scientific Center for AI and SuperTech.

The two-day seminar brings together researchers from the University of Bayreuth and representatives from almost twenty industrial partners, primarily small and medium-sized enterprises, to explore the practical application of AI in materials development, manufacturing, and quality assurance.

The workshop is based on the EVIDENZ project, which develops an innovative AI platform for Bayesian Optimization—a powerful machine learning approach that enables companies to identify optimal process parameters with significantly fewer experiments than conventional trial-and-error methods. By combining advanced optimisation techniques with a user-friendly interface and an integrated generative AI assistant, the platform makes cutting-edge AI accessible even to organisations without extensive in-house expertise.

Participants will gain hands-on experience through interactive workshops, case studies, and collaborative discussions covering topics such as AI in production, data governance and security, generative AI, prompt engineering, and the implementation of AI solutions using participants’ own industrial data. Throughout the programme, researchers and industry experts will work together to identify concrete use cases and develop practical strategies for integrating AI into existing production environments.

A key objective of the workshop is to strengthen technology transfer between academia and industry. By enabling companies to accelerate experimental design, optimise production processes, and improve product quality while maintaining full control over sensitive data through on-site deployment, the EVIDENZ project demonstrates how trustworthy and accessible AI can enhance the competitiveness of regional industry.

The Speinshart Scientific Center is pleased to provide the setting for this intensive exchange between science and business, fostering innovation and supporting the responsible adoption of artificial intelligence across manufacturing industries.
